Miscellaneous musings from the perspective of a lefty (both senses) atheist with a warped sense of humor.

I am a geek, but I do have some redeeming social skills. I love other people's dogs, cats, and kids. Snow sucks, but I'm willing to put up with it just to live in Madison.

Numismatic Haruspicy

The US Mint has been issuing state-themed quarters for nearly a decade. It issues 5 quarters a year, in the order in which the states were admitted to the union.

This August, it released the Alaska quarter in honor of State #49.

Sarah Palin is from Alaska. The week her state's quarter came out, she became the surprise nominee for vice-president on the Republican ticket.

The Hawaii quarter, for State #50, is due out in November.

Barack Obama was born in Hawaii. The week HIS state's quarter comes out, he hopes to be elected president of the United States.

Signs and portents. Absolutely irrelevant unless you take this kind of thing seriously, in which case the stars (and the US Mint) clearly want you to vote for Obama.
